Moong Dal Halwa


Moong Dal Halwa

Moong Dal Halwa is very popular Indian sweet dish. It is a rich, creamy and pudding-like dessert and made with split yellow moong dal.

Ingredients

1 cup split yellow moong dal
1 cup milk
1 cup ghee
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar1/2 tsp cardamom powdera few saffron strands
1 tbsp crushed almonds
1 tbsp crushed pista

Method

1. Soak split yellow gram into water for 6-8 hours.
2. Drain and grind into a smooth paste using very little water.
3. Rub the saffron into the warm milk until it dissolves and keep aside.
4. Heat the ghee into non-stick pan and add the smooth paste and stir the mixture continuously on a low flame till it becomes golden brown.
5. Boil the milk and water and add into non-stick and mix it well.
6. Add the sugar and cook on a low flame till the ghee separates from it.
7. Add the saffron, cardamom powder, almonds and pista and mix it well.
8. Serve Hot.
