The gravy contains pureed tomato that adds to its thickness and is seasoned with rich, hot spices. The dish is a North Indian type preparation. It is usually relished with chapattis or parathas. It not only tastes good but is also highly nutritious. It is rich in carbohydrates, dietary fibers and proteins. It is served mostly at lunch. I went to a scout camp atLudhianawhen I was in school. Our cook, who was a native of that place, taught me this recipe.

On the occasion of Janmashtmi we have one different kind of Kadhi for you to make and enjoy in you fast.Groundnuts Kadhi is special dish for fasting. It is a sweet and spicy thick curry with curd, rajigra flour and groundnuts. You can have it with Moraiyo.


Ingredients

1 cup curd1 cup water
5-6 curry leaves
1 tbsp rajgira flour
1 cup grated roasted groundnuts 
1 tbsp ghee1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp green chillis finely chopped
1 dry whole red chilli
1 tsp Jaggery salt to taste

Method

1. Mix grated roasted peanuts, curd, water and rajgira flour in bowl and blend it from hand blender.
2. Heat ghee into a heavy sauce pan and add cumin seeds and wait until it crackle
.3. Add curry leaves and whole red chilli into it and add into curd mixture.
4. Add jaggery, green chillis, salt and mix it well.
5. Cook it on a slow flame for 10 minutes.
6. Serve hot with Moraiyo

Macher chop is prepared from fishes of the Carp category like Rohu or Bhetki. The fish fillets are grinded along with spices and are coated with besan or gram flour batter and then deep fried in oil. Macher chop is a common evening snack in Bengal, a state inEastern India. It is a good compliment to tea or coffee and can make a good starter as well. It is so very tasty that you would crave for more and more. My mom was always praised for her macher chops. I learnt this recipe from her and now I too can prepare macher chop as good as my mom.
